Our name is inspired by the local history of Oxford Street, where in the 1930s a whippet racing track once stood just behind the shops. Under electric lights and a simple grandstand, crowds gathered weekly to cheer on sleek, swift whippets — known then as the “poor man’s racehorse.” It was a place of energy, camaraderie, and community spirit, woven into Leederville’s social fabric.

Today, The Whippet Club carries that spirit forward. By day, we’re a relaxed space for coffee, food, and catch-ups. By night, we come alive with cocktails, wine, and shared plates in an atmosphere designed for connection.
